Republic Day Wishes

Republic Day

Every year on January 26, India commemorates Republic Day with great pride and zeal.
It is a significant day for every Indian citizen. Happy Republic Day to All!

It is the anniversary of India’s declaration of independence and acceptance of democracy.
To put it another way, it commemorates the day our constitution went into effect.

We became an independent, secular, socialist, democratic republic on January 26, 1950, almost three years after independence.

Republic Day’s History

On August 15, 1947, we declared independence from British domination, but our country lacked a formal constitution.

Furthermore, India lacked specialists and political authority to assist in the efficient operation of state activities.

Until then, the 1935 Government of India Act had been essentially amended to govern, but it was still more geared toward colonial authority.

As a result, there was a pressing need to draught an exclusive constitution that reflected everything that India stands for.

On August 28, 1947, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar led a constitutional drafting group. On November 4, 1947, the same committee presented it to the Constituent Assembly after drafting it.

This entire method was extremely time-consuming, taking up to 166 days to finish.
Furthermore, the committee’s meetings were open to the public.

Regardless of the hurdles and tribulations, our constitutional committee left no stone unturned in ensuring that everyone’s rights were protected.

Its goal was to strike the ideal balance so that all people of the country might enjoy equal rights in terms of religion, culture, caste, sex, faith, and other factors.

Finally, on January 26, 1950, they presented the country with the official Indian constitution.

Moreover, the first session of the India Parliament was also conducted on this day. In addition to that, 26th January also witnessed the swearing-in of India’s first president, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

Thus, this day is very important as it marks the end of the British rule and birth of India as a Republic State.

Celebrate of Republic Day

The most significant and grand parade is held at Rajpath in New Delhi, which exhibits a multi-toned picture of the country’s rich social heritage and military ability.

This procession is presided over by the President of India. The Prime Minister of India first lays a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, in memory of all people from the military who surrendered their life for the country.

Thereafter, 21-gun salute, unfurling of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem take place.
